Kalafina is a Japanese band formed by composer Kajiura Yuki in 2007, mainly to perform theme songs for the anime Kara no Kyōkai. The band debuted in January 2008 with two original members from Kajiura Yuki’s FictionJunction project, WAKANA and KEIKO. In May 2008, two vocalists Maya and Hikaru, who had been chosen from an audition of 30,000 participants held by Sony Music Japan and Kajiura Yuki, were confirmed as the final members of Kalafina. In May 2009, Sony Music officially posted that Maya will no longer be participating in Kalafina.

Nichika (Two Thousand Flowers) is a Japanese pop duo formed by singer Miyamoto Issui and musician-composer Nomura Yoichiro. The name “Nichika” comes from their ideal of being the flower of the new century. Artists they have collaborated with include KT Tunstall, members of GREAT3, and Chappie. The news of their disbandment was first announced by Miyamoto through her blog on December 15, 2009.
