Nichika

Nichika (Two Thousand Flowers)  is a Japanese pop duo formed by singer Miyamoto Issui and musician-composer Nomura Yoichiro. The name “Nichika” comes from their ideal of being the flower of the new century. Artists they have collaborated with include KT Tunstall, members of GREAT3, and Chappie. The news of their disbandment was first announced by Miyamoto through her blog on December 15, 2009.

OLIVIA

Olivia Lufkin, often known simply as OLIVIA is a bilingual Japanese singer-songwriter. She is the daughter of an Norwegian American father and an Okinawan mother. OLIVIA was born in Okinawa, but has lived in the US for roughly six years. She was scouted from the Okinawa Actors School and was asked to join a eurobeat band called D&D. She accepted, and debuted in 1996 with the single IN YOUR EYES. The band was semi-successful, and OLIVIA later decided to go solo. OLIVIA’s music style has changed from a quite poppy sound into an experimental rock one. She now writes and composes all of her material. Though OLIVIA was on a hiatus for around two years after the release of 2004′s The Lost Lolli, OLIVIA returned in 2006 to sing the ending theme song to the anime adaptation to Yazawa Ai’s manga NANA, a little pain.

aiko is a Japanese pop singer-songwriter under the Pony Canyon label. She is well known within Japan for her cheerful disposition. Her songs are generally upbeat, although she has also released some slower tempo numbers and focuses primarily on the topic of love. As proof of her popularity, she won Oricon’s subscriber survey as favorite singer in both 2005 and 2006.

SCANDAL

SCANDAL is Japanese pop-rock girl band from Osaka, Japan. Formed in August 2006 by four high school girls, they started playing street lives until they were noticed and singed to the indie label Kitty Records. In 2008, they released three singles and a mini-album, while performing shows in the United States, France, and Hong Kong. Because of this, they have an international fanbase. That October, SCANDAL released their major debut single, “DOLL”, under EPIC Records Japan.

AZU

AZU is a Japanese pop/urban artist signed under BMG JAPAN label. Her big break came when she was featured on SEAMO’s song “Kokoro no Koe” from his album “Live Goes On”. Since the age of 16, AZU has been performing live at clubs. Her shows were mostly held around the KansaiToukai areas. AZU’s name comes from the phrases “A~Z and handed down to you.”

KATO MILIYAH

Kato Miliyah is a Japanese Urban artist and producer of kawiJamele. Her real name is Kato Miho. Quite some time ago she won a Sony audition, but only debuted with her first single called “Never Let go” on September 8, 2004. It was ranked among the 30 best singles for 5 weeks. She is influenced by Hip-Hop and R&B music, especially Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige. She graduated from Christian Meiji-Gakuin Senior High School in Tokyo. She grew up in a single-parent household, with her mother and brother.
